Plan D Medicare Supplement


Medicare Supplement Plan D is a comprehensive plan covering most options with the exception of the Part B deductible and excess charges.Medigap Plan D is one of several supplemental Medicare insurance plans designed to help pay for the deductibles, copayments and coinsurance requirements of the Original Medicare plan. Medigap Plan D is not to be confused with the Medicare Part D prescription benefits plan. Medicare drug Part D is a federal program developed to help pay the high costs of prescription medications.


  • 100% of Medicare Part A coinsurance and hospital costs (up to an additional 365 days after Medicare benefits are used).
  • 100% ** of Medicare Part B (physician) coinsurance or co-payment (generally 20% of outpatient expenses).
  • 100% of Blood deductible coverage (the cost of the first three pints of blood).
  • 100% of Part A hospice coinsurance or co-payment.
  • 100% of skilled nursing facility care coinsurance.
  • 100% of Part A deductible.
  • 80% of foreign travel emergency (up to plan limits)

Does not cover:

  • Part B deductible.
  • Part B excess charges.

Medigap Plan D covers coinsurance and hospital costs up to an additional 365 days (one year) after Medicare benefits are used up.

Plan D also covers Medicare Part B coinsurance and/or copayments, as well as the first 3 pints of blood required. Medigap Plan D covers hospice care coinsurance / copayments.

Skilled nursing facility care coinsurance is covered under Medigap Plan D.

Medigap Plan D does cover Medicare Plan A. Plan D does not cover Medicare Part B deductibles. Medigap Plan D does not cover Medicare Part B excess charges.

Plan D does cover foreign travel healthcare costs up to Plan D limits.
