Plan B Medicare Supplement


Medicare Supplement Plan B adds full coverage of the Part A deductible to the 100% of Part A and Part B coinsurances, first three pints of blood and Part A hospice co-payment.


  • 100% of Medicare Part A coinsurance and hospital costs (up to an additional 365 days after Medicare benefits are used).
  • 100% ** of Medicare Part B (physician) coinsurance or co-payment (generally 20% of outpatient expenses).
  • 100% of Blood deductible coverage (the cost of the first three pints of blood).
  • 100% of Part A hospice coinsurance or co-payment.

Does not cover:

  • Skilled nursing facility care co-insurance.
  • Part A Deductible.
  • Part B deductible.
  • Part B excess charges.
  • Foreign travel emergency.

In order to purchase Medigap insurance, you must first be enrolled in Original Medigap Part A and Part B. If you are participating in the Medicare Advantage plan, you do not qualify for Medigap supplemental insurance.

Below you will find an itemized description of the Medigap Plan B benefits to be used to compare Medicare health plans, including information regarding Medicare Part B.

Medigap Plan B covers coinsurance and hospital costs up to an additional 365 days (one year) after Medicare benefits are used up.

Plan B also covers Medicare Part B coinsurance and/or copayments, as well as the first 3 pints of blood required. Medigap Plan B covers hospice care coinsurance / copayments. Skilled nursing facility coinsurance is not covered under Medigap Plan B.

Medigap Plan B does cover Medicare Part A deductible but does NOT cover Part B deductibles.

Part B excess charges also are not covered under Medigap Plan B.

Plan B does not cover any foreign travel healthcare costs.
